Picture Post-Phish Madison Square Garden
Yes, I know this is a travel site. Yes I know it is supposed to be geared towards couples. Yes I know music is typically a separate passion that has nothing to do with travel.
But for me, music and travel go hand in hand. Especially if that music is Phish. You see, Phish has played a big part in why I love to travel. They are the reason that my travel obsession began back in 1997. And they are the main reason why we traveled to New York City during the last week of 2010.
I had dreamed of going to a Phish New Year’s Eve show at Madison Square Garden since they first played there in 1995. But it wasn’t until 2010 that I was lucky enough to score tickets through the lottery and get that opportunity. Not only did I get tickets to 2 of their 3 shows, I scored 1st row floor seats for their first ever January 1st show. That’s right, FIRST ROW at Madison Square Garden for my favorite band in the world. I was on cloud nine.
Now I do know that 99% of you out there couldn’t care less about Phish. And that’s OK. But regardless of what type of music you listen to, you have to appreciate the excitement I had going into this show. Luckily my wife is such a good sport that she decided to be the photographer for the night so I could spend my time getting down and dancing to my favorite band.
The whole experience was absolutely amazing, and it will be something that I will remember for the rest of my life. Here is a collection of pictures from the weekend, first a few from NYE when we were in the upper deck, then the rest from the show on 1/1/11. We got some video as well, but unfortunately the sound is horrible because we were too close. I can accept that. Enjoy!
