A whirlwind three months

It’s been almost three months since World Travel for Couples went live on the interwebs.  I feel the site has come a long way since that day I sent out my first tweet about it back in late July.  It all started with the About Me and the 6 Questions about What World Travel for Couples is About posts.

It has slowly but surely grown, day by day, into a collection of regional, country, and city guides, along with tips, tons of pictures, and reviews.

The plan thus far

I have had a rather haphazard plan for the site since it began, but now it’s time to get a bit more organized.  If you’ve been following this site at all since it’s launch in late July, or if you’re brand new here and just perusing the site for the first time, you have (or will) notice a few things.

Navigating the site

On the top navigation bar are tabs for regional guides.  Ultimately all those tabs will be filled with informational goodness.  But right now the focus is on the South America region.  The country pages are complete and ready for your viewing pleasure, as are all city and adventure guides for all of Peru and Bolivia.  The bottom nav bar has a collection of posts, broken down into different categories.  There is a links page that offers a collection of some of my favorite travel sites out on the web, and posts focusing on multimedia, reviews, travel stories, and travel tips.

Reader questions

I’ve had several readers contact me with questions regarding some of the other countries.  They are a work in progress at the moment, but I am publishing 5 pages/posts per week, and that will be the schedule until I’ve finished all of South America.  I will then move on to New Zealand, SE Asia, India, North America, and Europe to give everyone an idea of what to expect when.

Some of the guides won’t be written for months, but all are regions we have been to, so if there’s nothing up yet on that page, please feel free to utilize the contact page to send me a message with whatever question you may have, and I will answer it and help you out as best I can.  I follow many other travel bloggers on a daily basis, so even if I don’t know the answer to your question(s), I am confident I can send you in the right direction.

What to expect next

Since I just finished Bolivia, I’m at a bit of a breaking point, and I wanted to organize the site better, get a firm schedule of pages and posts ready, and just generally make this a more user-friendly site for any traveler looking for information.

Continuing with the South America theme, Argentina is up next.  Instead of just writing city pages, tip posts, and reviews and publishing them in a random sort of way like I’ve been doing, I’m excited to announce a more firm and organized schedule for what gets published when, including themed days.  This will help all readers out there to know what to expect on a given day every single week.

This week

With the exception of the continuation of the 100 Things I Love about Travel photo series published on Friday, that will be it as far as new content this week.  But be sure to catch up on anything you may have overlooked, including some of my personal favorite posts and pages, and some that have gotten the most love out in the cyberspace world.  I’d love it if you became a fan of World Travel for Couples on Facebook and subscribe to the RSS Feed as well.

Some of my favorite posts and pages to whet your appetite until next Monday:

• At This Time Last Year…-  This post was written on the one year anniversary of our return home after our round the world trip.  It’s probably the most personal thing I have written on this site, and it’s a reflection of the 3.5 year process of planning, saving, going, and returning.
• An Unexpected Surprise-  This post was a recap of our recent weekend trip to Madison, Wisconsin, which surprised the hell out of us with how great of a city it was.
• Machu Picchu in pictures-  Exactly like it sounds, this is a picture post about our time at Machu Picchu.
• Salar de Uyuni tour-Lagoons, Wildlife, and Landscapes-  Many people think a Salt Flats tour is only a tour of the Salt Flats.  This post talks about the other three days of the tour, which are equally as spectacular.
• A Trekking Guide (for those who like to eat and drink a lot)-  I like to eat.  I like to drink.  I like to hike.  This post explains that it is indeed possible to be a big fan of all three and not die while on the trail.

The future…….and beyond

Starting next week, October 25, World Travel for Couples will be coming at you with a fast and furious amount of new, original, fun, and informative content all five working days of the week.  Here is the content plan you can expect to see every single week, starting a week from today:

• Monday:  Mondays will start out with a city guide within a certain region of the country I’m focusing on.  Argentina will be the focus for the next couple months.  Every week will see a certain theme.  For instance, next week will focus on Northwestern Argentina.  The following on Iguazu Falls.  Next will be Buenos Aires, and so on and so forth.  All posts will have to do with that week’s theme.  Some may stretch to two or three weeks.
• Tuesday:  In honor of #TravelTuesday (#TT) on twitter, every Tuesday will see post offering travel tips and ideas.  These tips will typically focus on travel in the highlighted region of that particular week.
• Wednesday and Thursday:  Both days will be a combination of city guides and recaps of activities done in the specified region on that particular week.  A picture post may pop up here and there until the Friday photo series, 100 Things I Love about Travel, ends.
• Friday:  This Friday will mark the halfway point for the 100 Things I Love about Travel series.  Every Friday for the next 5 weeks will have another addition to this photo series.  When that ends in late November, every Friday will see a picture post, of course continuing with that weeks theme.

So I hope to see everyone back starting next Monday.  This will be a better and more organized World Travel for Couples site, and I hope to be able to continue providing the travel community with worthwhile information, both for traveling partners and any lover of travel.
